On the 70th anniversary of the US Leyte landing: US troops out!

MANILA.  At the 70th anniversary of the Leyte landing, US Ambassador to the Philippines Philip Golberg called the Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT) between the Philippines and the US as “a pillar of our relationship and a source of stability in the region.” The ILPS-Philippines sees that pillar crumbling as a result of the American’s own doing.

Goldberg is invoking a Cold War treaty older than himself. The American War is being carried to the Philippines by this destablizer, a declared “persona non grata” by Pres. Evo Morales in 2008 for supporting right-wing opposition with millions of dollars in Bolivia.

The current US ambassador in Manila is a top spy. This is public knowledge. He assumed duties as Assistant Secretary of State for Intelligence and Research (INR) in 2010, leading one of 16 elements in the US Intelligence Community (IC). INR’s primary mission is to harness intelligence to serve US diplomacy.

Under the guise of diplomacy, he was a top US spook who has served in Colombia, South Africa and Bosnia. Goldberg was a member of the American negotiating team in the lead-up to the Dayton Peace Conference ending the Bosnian War in 1995 after heavy US and NATO bombings.

He also served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Santiago, Chile from 2001-2004, and served as the Coordinator for Implementation of UNSC Resolution 1874 (Sanctions) on North Korea. His cover was blown in Bolivia while working as an ambassador and was expelled.

The ILPS-Philippines recently congratulated Pres. Evo Morales for having won a resounding re-election victory in Bolivia. The Filipino people cannot say the same for Pres. Benigno Aquino, the top US stooge in the Philippines, who is hinting at a second term despite constitutional prohibitions against it.

“We are continuing to renew and expand upon our partnership. As I look ahead, I know we will be faced by challenges and uncertainties, but just as was the case 70 years ago, we will prevail,” the US ambassador was quoted saying in Leyte.

American troops and warships have again returned after the rejection of the bases treaty in 1991. This time, they have returned under a Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) and an Enhanced Defence Cooperation Agreement (EDCA). These pacts have now brought the involvement of a US Marine in the killing of transgender woman Jennifer Laude, the most recent case of US crime in the country.

Atty. Harry Roque, counsel for the Laude family, has warned that an American spy is stalking him. He need not worry. The top spook is already here at the US embassy assigned since November last year.

On October 20, 1944 US Gen. Douglas MacArthur landed on the shores of Red Beach in Palo, Leyte, announcing: “People of the Philippines, I have returned.”  The Filipino people are now saying, “We don’t want you back. Get out!”
