All-out support for the struggle of students and people of Mexico

Chairperson, International League of Peoples’ Struggle

To all the member-orgamizations and allies of the Inter national League of Peoples’ Struggle and to the working class and peoples of the world:

We in the International League of Peoples Struggle (ILPS), have followed with great attention and indignation the aggression which the workers and people of Mexico have been victims of.

We have observed that since Enrique Peña Nieto became President of Mexico, the offensive against the people has been devastating; structural reforms have been imposed, increasing Mexico’s economic dependence on US imperialism; Plan Merida has been reinforced in order to strengthen the Yankee military control in the region, and recently the participation of the Mexican Army in the badly named Peace Force (Blue Helmets) has been approved, which exposes that the Mexican government is a Puppet of Barack Obama.

In this environment, we now have the forced disappearance of 43 students of the Raúl Isidro Burgos Rural Teachers College, in Ayotzinapa, between the 26 and 27 of September. The disappearance occurred in the City of Iguala de la Independencia, in the state of Guerrero. They were also victims of aggression from the Municipal Police in coordination with the drug trafficking cartel known as the Guerreros Unidos, with total knowledge and approval from the Mexican Army, and the other local police and federal agents.

Faced with these crimes, the ILPS declares:

  1. We demand from the Mexicxan state the immediate return of the 43 studenrs who were disappeared from Ayotzinapa; and punishment of the criminal masterminds and accomplices in the disappearance and assassination six persons. At the same time we point out that these incidents are crimes of the state and that these can be clearly defined as crimes against humanity, and therefore they should be punished as such.

  2. We support the demand for a halt to the criminalization of social protest in Mexico.

  3. We are in solidarity with the relatives and friends of the disappeared students and have expressed our complete support and solidarity, encouraging them to continue the struggle demanding that the disappeared be returned alive and that those responsible be punished.

  4. We also express our solidarity with all the Workers and the Peoples of Mexico, who are pouring into the streets to demand that the students be returned alive, that the structural reforms be terminated, and that Enrique Peña Nieto resign as President. We send a special message of solidarity to the National Popular Assembly.

As proof of our solidarity with the peoples of Mexico, we call on all of member-organizations and allies of the ILPS to participate in the call for global protests demanding that the students of Ayotzinapa be returned alive, and we are especially calling for actions of solidarity with the December 1 National Strike. All these actions can be carried out in front of the Mexican Embassies and Consulates around the world.
