ILPS Europe stands in Solidarity with the Kurdish People Against the Recent Erdogan Regime’s Repression and the Banning of the HDP

The International League of People’s Struggle (ILPS) Europe condemns the Erdogan fascist regime in the strongest possible terms in its repressive scheme of banning the HDP (Peoples Democratic Party/ Halklarin Demokratik Partisi) out of its legal existence and the stripping out of the parliamentary function of its duly elected representative, Mr. Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu.

Out of desperation, the Erdogan regime strikes again by showing its undemocratic fangs. On 17 March 2021, HDP (Peoples Democratic Party) parliamentarian Mr. Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu was stripped of his status as a deputy in the parliament of Turkey. This was followed a few hours later by a lawsuit filed by the  Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation with the Constitutional Court to ban the HDP altogether. The same lawsuit is also threatening to ban more than HDP members.

HDP is a political party representing diverse backgrounds from different nationalities and beliefs. With its democratic program, HDP is also playing an important role for the necessary change in Turkey.

HDP also played an important role when there was a dialogue process between Turkey and Kurdish peoples leader Abdullah Ocalan. For more than 330 days, there has been no news on Ocalan who has been in solitary confinement since 1999. His health is uncertain and his rights to see his lawyers and family not allowed. ILPS Europe calls CPT – (the Committee for Preventing Torture) to do their job and ensure that Ocalan his rights.

After Turkey’s military defeat some weeks ago in the Gare region in Kurdistan, the Erdogan fascism expanded its terror with all its power in order to subdue the peoples and silence democratic opposition to his repressive fascist regime. To date, there are now more than ten thousand political prisoners in Turkey giving a clear picture of how much the Erdogan regime is afraid of the ever-growing democratic forces in Turkey.

Despite these attacks, the fascist-genocidal regime and forces and their imperialist masters will be rendered inutile to stop the advances and victories of the Kurdish people’s struggle for liberation.

Likewise, the International League of People’s Struggle (ILPS) Europe strongly condemns Turkish states’ attack on HDP and its politicians and calls the international community to support the Kurdish Peoples’ struggle.

ILPS Europe also coveys its warmest greetings to the Kurdish People in today’s celebration of NEWROZ day – the great celebration of the new year and resistance. #SolidarityWithHDP

ILPS also congratulates Kurdish peoples’ NEWROZ day which is the new year and resistant day.

Long Live Kurdish Peoples’ Struggle for Freedom!
Long live International Solidarity!
