New Year’s Greetings and Best Wishes!

As a Filipino social activist and as Chairperson Emeritus of the International League of Peoples’ Struggle, I wish to express warmest greetings of solidarity to all my Filipino compatriots in the motherland and abroad and to all my comrades and friends of various nationalities.

You have suffered the escalating conditions of oppression and exploitation due to the rapidly worsening crisis of the world capitalist system, aggravated by the Covid-19 pandemic.  The imperialist powers and exploiting classes have used the crisis of their own making to increase their wealth and power at the expense of the broad masses of the people who are mired in mass poverty and unemployment.

We expect that in this new year the crisis of the world capitalist system and the various domestic ruling systems will continue to worsen and further escalate the conditions of oppression and exploitation. And we hope that the broad masses of the people will rise up on an unprecedented scale and intensify their anti-imperialist and democratic struggles for a fundamentally new and better world.

The neoliberal policy of imperialist globalization and unbridled greed is unravelling. And the currents of fascism and aggression are running high.  All basic contradictions are sharpening, such as those among the imperialist powers themselves, between the imperialist powers and the oppressed peoples and nations and between the monopoly bourgeoisie and other exploiting classes on one side and the proletariat and other  working people on the other side in various countries.

We hope that the rise of the anti-imperialist and democratic struggles of the proletariat and people of the world result in the resurgence of the world proletarian-socialist revolution.  We also hope that in the Philippines, the broad masses of the people will overcome the traitorous, tyrannical, brutal and corrupt Duterte regime and create the conditions for the rise of a fully independent, democratic,  socially just, peaceful, prosperous and progressive Philippines!
