By Dr. MALEM NINGTHOUJA
The Campaign for Peace & Democracy (Manipur), Manipur Students’ Association Delhi, Revolutionary Democracy, and Workers’ Unity Trade Union strongly condemned the forced disappearance and assassination of comrade Gustavo Alejandro Salgado Delgado of the Revolutionary Popular Front (Mexico) by a nefarious collusion of the reactionary landlords and State agents.
In response to the global action demanding justice for comrade Gustavo, a gathering was held at the Delhi University campus on 3rd March 2015. Wall posters demanding justice were circulated and a two minutes silence was observed in honour of the late comrade Gustavo. It was followed by a solidarity speech delivered by comrade Vijay Singh.
The revolutionary activism of comrade Gustavo was remembered and honoured. The gathering also discussed the increasing trend of exploitations in various forms under capitalism and the threat posed by State terrorism to suppress democratic and revolutionary activism.
On the following day, that is 4th March 2015, a delegate of the above organisations submitted a memorandum to the Mexican Embassy in New Delhi. The memorandum demanded justice for comrade Gustavo, official permission to allow the FPR to have certified copies of the investigation, and security to the members of FPR and the families of comrade Gustavo.
Long live international solidarity!
