Whereas, nearly 300 Palestinian political prisoners who are under “administrative detention,” which means being held indefinitely without charge, have been on hunger strike since 7 April and many face death;

Whereas, these prisoners are among 5,000 Palestinians, including several hundred children, illegally imprisoned by Israeli occupation authorities and routinely subject to abuse and torture by Israeli soldiers;

Whereas, there is not a single Palestinian family in the West Bank that has not been affected by Israel’s policy of arbitrary arrest and imprisonment;

Whereas arbitrary arrest and imprisonment are but among the many abuses that Palestinian people living under occupation suffer at the hands of the Israeli military and Israeli settlers who daily terrorize, brutalize and murder Palestinians in an attempt to drive them from what is left of their land;

Whereas, the people of the Gaza strip, the most densely populated place on earth, most of whom are the children and grandchildren of Palestinians expelled from what is now called Israel in 1948, continue to live under a state of blockade and embargo and frequent air and artillery assault by Israel’s us-armed and -funded military;

Whereas, the majority of Palestinian people to this day remain in exile, forbidden to return to their homeland; and

Whereas, the war crimes of the Israeli state would not be possible without the billions of dollars’ worth of advanced arms and economic support provided by the united states, whose leaders still view Israel as former us secretary of state gen. Alexander Haig described it, “the largest American aircraft carrier in the world and the only one that can’t be sunk.”

Therefore, be it resolved that the International League of Peoples’ Struggle stands in complete and unconditional solidarity with the Palestinian people’s long and heroic struggle for freedom; that we demand the immediate and unconditional release of all Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli hails and prisons; and

Be it further resolved that we demand an immediate end to all military and financial aid to the apartheid state of Israel by the United States and other imperialist powers and that we call on all our member organizations to support and join in the international movement for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against the Zionist state; and

Be it further resolved that we reaffirm our support for the right of all Palestinians to return to their homeland and live in peace, freedom and security in one democratic state in all of Palestine, a view we share with all in the world who oppose racism and inequality.
