Resolution proposed and approved
during the meeting of the International Coordinating Group
International League of Peoples’ Struggle
20-21 August 2010
The International Coordinating Group (ICG) of the International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) calls on Commissions 3 and 15 to coordinate a comprehensive international campaign on human rights to expose and oppose the gross and wide-scale violations of human rights in connection with imperialist plunder and war and state terrorism targetting especially those organizations and forces fighting for national and social liberation.
Among the glaring examples are the wars of aggression in Iraq and Afghanistan, Operation Green Hunt in India, Oplan Bantay Laya (Operation Freedom Watch) in the Philippines, fascist terror against Kurdish and Turkish progressives in Turkey, military offensives against the FARC in Colombia, continued Israeli repression of Palestinians in the occupied territories and others.
The human rights violations include illegal arrest and detention, harassment, filing of false charges, hamletting, forced evacuation and such atrocities as massacres, torture, extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances.
The comprehensive campaign should include the following among others:
Document and expose the gross violations of human rights resulting from the US-led “war on terror” and its local versions in various countries.
Campaign against anti-terror laws enacted by the US and imposed on puppet states that trample on the people’s fundamental rights and liberties.
Campaign for the unconditional release of political prisoners and a stop to inhuman treatment of political prisoners.
Campaign for the removal from so-called terrorist lists of liberation movements and progressive leaders like ILPS Chairperson Jose Maria Sison.
Campaign against continued Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands and oppression of the Palestinian people such as the embargo against the people of Gaza, the building of the Apartheid wall and the bulldozing of houses and olive trees to give way to Israeli settlements.
