On 10th October 2013 Assistant Professor Dr. Hanjabam Shukhdeba Sharma was assaulted by Professor Moirangthem Mani, Director, Academic Staff College, Manipur Central University during the 19th Orientation Programme of the ASC.
The assault was sparked off when Shukhdeba had an altercation with the programme coordinator O’Brien to ensure power supply to run power point projector. The browbeating altercations went ahead to the extent of Shukhdeba raising some sensitive questions regarding the transparency of the authority in appointing O’Brien to the post of coordinator.

“Lei-Ingkhol is our homeland. We are born here and we will die here,” said an elderly Ahanthem Ibomcha (who is no more). “For five decades my life is built around the village for survival and security,” lamented handicapped leper Matumbi. “The rich and powerful, to meet their selfish ends, are mercilessly adding to the burden of the weaker.”
Those were some of the voices when we started protesting the Manipur government’s announcement of April 20, 2005 to acquire our village Lei-Ingkhol, located on a hillside about 5 km from Imphal.

Chelsea Uniting Against the War, a member organization of the International League of Peoples’ Struggle, sends solidarity greetings to the International People’s Assembly in Detroit Against the Banks and Against Austerity!
Our small organization based in the Latino immigrant community of Chelsea, Massachusetts, has opposed the US government war of terror on the people of the world from our formation in 2003.
The International League of Peoples' Struggle and BAYAN-Canada joined a protest action in Vancouver, Canada, on Saturday, 14 September, in order to uphold the unconditional right of the Syrian people to self-determination, and stand in solidarity with them and the world’s people in rejecting any and all US intervention in Syria.

By International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines
We, the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines, express outrage at the government of President Benigno S. Aquino III for not allowing Kim Chatillon-Meunier to board her plane in Manila bound for Hong Kong last night, 13 September, and worse, for putting her in jail based on spurious charges. Kim was reportedly barred from taking her flight by officials of the Bureau of Immigration, claiming that her name is on a so-called “watchlist” and that she participated in a protest rally against the 21 July State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President BS Aquino. We are deeply alarmed that a certain Commissioner Siegfred Mison allegedly ordered her detention in Bicutan, Taguig, to face “intelligence personnel”.
