On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the EDSA uprising that overthrew the Marcos dictatorship in the Philippines

ILPS Chairperson

The most definitive end of the Marcos fascist dictatorship came Feb. 25, 1986, when the despot Marcos and his family had to be flown out of the presidential palace by U.S. helicopter. There was no other way for them to escape the wrath of the people because tens of thousands of progressive workers and students belonging to Kilusang Mayo Uno and League of Filipino Students respectively had already massed up around the palace.

By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
Chairperson, International League of Peoples' Struggle

The International League of Peoples' Struggle (ILPS) condemns in the strongest terms the continuing military offensive being waged by the Turkish  army against the Kurdish towns of Cizre, Sirnak, Silvan, Silopi and Amed-Sur in North Kurdistan supported by ISIS and other fascist gangs armed by the Erdogan regime. The main targets of this offensive are the Kurdish people and the PKK revolutionaries who are fighting for national self-determination.  While the eyes of the world are focused on the war in Syria, the fascist Erdogan regime has embarked on this military offensive to crush the Kurdish liberation movement.

Call to arms against Transpacific Partnership Agreement

ILPS Commission 6
Agrarian reform and rights of peasants, farm workers and fisherfolk

The storm is coming.

Today, despite widespread protests, the US-led Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) will be signed by the 12 member countries in New Zealand. The mega-regional “free trade agreement” (FTA) negotiations had been kept in the shadows for almost a decade and had the text only made public last October 2015 while the annexes remain a secret. The massive 30-chapter deal contains provisions that would intensify global landgrabbing, dislocate the capacity for food sovereignty and impede rural and national development among underdeveloped and dependent states.
