Dear Colleagues and Friends,
I am deeply pleased to open this ILPS Forum on People's Resistance Against the WTO and Imperialist Globalization. I welcome all the participants in this forum. I congratulate the Indonesian and other chapters of the ILPS and all the concerned officers of the ILPS International Coordinating Committee for organizing this forum.
By Prof. JOSE MARIA SISONChairperson, International League of Peoples' struggle
In behalf of the International League of Peoples' Struggle (ILPS), I wish to thank the organizers of the People's Global Camp in Bali, Indonesia, for inviting me to to speak about issues relating to the WTO. I thank the Indonesia Peoples Alliance (IPA) in particular for giving us this opportunity to contribute to its Plenary Session on People's Struggles and Resistance.
In behalf of the International League of Peoples’ Struggle, I extend warmest greetings of solidarity to the organizers and participants of the Youth Solidarity Festival. It is fitting that your festival, a self-organized event of the People’s Global Camp, has adopted the call “Youth unite, fight and claim our future” as your theme.
We, the International League of Peoples' Struggle (ILPS), convey to all the organizations, groups, and individuals participating in the People’s Global Camp (PGC) in Bali, Indonesia our warmest greetings of solidarity in your resistance against neoliberal globalization and imperialist plunder.
These were a few of the many slogans that around 150 students and youth under the banner of the Indonesian People’s Alliance were chanting when they trooped to the United States Consulate in Bali, Indonesia today.

Indonesia takes center stage as it hosts of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Meeting on 3-6 December 2013. This forum is being convened in the midst of the global economic, financial, climate, energy, food and political crises confronting the world today. But the WTO will not deliver real solutions that will steer the world and the people out of the multiple crises. Instead of offering real solutions, the WTO pushes for more of the same recipe that have brought upon the multiple crises – more liberalization, deregulation and privatization – which will result in greater impacts to the peoples and planet.
